JMO

JMO is a trinational trio featuring kora player, singer and griot Moussa Cissokho (Senegal), multi-instrumentalist Jan Galega Brönnimann (Switzerland) and percussionist Omri Hason (Israel). Cissokho carries a 41-generation-old tradition of West African storytelling.

Brönnimann plays bass clarinet and soprano saxophone; Hason provides percussion on hang, frame drum and various other instruments. The bright sound of the kora - an African harp with 26 strings - resonates with the warm tones of the bass clarinet and the rhythmic versatility of the percussion. The compositions are written by all three musicians and reflect their diverse roots in Africa, Europe and the Middle East.

For more than a decade, JMO has performed internationally, from Japan to Argentina and from Norway to Israel. Their second album is called Dandoula Tala - Mandinka for "no borders".
