Jan Galega Brönnimann (born 1969 in Cameroon) is a Swiss multi-instrumentalist working across saxophones, bass clarinet, contrabass clarinet and electronics. For decades he has moved between jazz, world music and free improvisation, collaborating with artists such as Nils Petter Molvær, Pierre Favre and Aly Keïta. He is best known as the frontman of his band Brink Man Ship and as one third of the trinational trio JMO, which brings together West African kora, Middle Eastern percussion and his own low-reed sound.
Musikch.com published in December 2025 a review of the duo Taube & Brönnimann, in which the improvisations of the duo are praised.
Brönnimann performed in August 2024 seven concerts with harpist Maja Taube at the Zikaden Festival in Nürnberg; all evenings were recorded and released as the CD 'live aus dem Kohlenhof'.
The Frankfurter Neue Presse wrote in April 2024 approvingly about a JMO concert, where the audience applauded the trio anew after each piece.
Brönnimann performed at the BeJazz Winterfestival in Bern in January 2023 with the project 'Tipping Point', in which he gave musical expression to the climate crisis together with Samuel Radvila, Julian Sartorius and Nils Petter Molvær.
