Cristina Branco

Cristina Branco returns to De Oostkerk in Middelburg. Following her concerts in 2023, 2025 and 2026, the Portuguese fado singer fills the monumental church with her voice once again. This concert marks a milestone: thirty years ago, her European career began in the Netherlands with the album Cristina Branco in Holland (1997).

Branco started as a jazz singer and switched to fado after her grandfather introduced her to the work of Amália Rodrigues. Her breakthrough in the Netherlands came with the album Canta Slauerhoff, on which she performed poems by J. Slauerhoff in Portuguese. She has also collaborated multiple times with Bløf, including on the songs Herinnering aan later and Dansen aan zee.
