Tess Merlot & Ensemble Residentie Orkest Den Haag
Following a sold-out concert at PAARD in 2023 and a much-requested live album, Tess Merlot and nine musicians from the Residentie Orkest Den Haag continue their collaboration in a smaller, more intimate setting. French chanson takes centre stage, with classics by Charles Aznavour, Jacques Brel and Edith Piaf alternating with Tess's own work: Rien à perdre, Mon Paris and Une Passante.
Tess Merlot has built a reputation over recent years as a chanson singer with her own distinctive voice: personal, direct and unadorned. In this small ensemble, that quality shines through. As she describes it herself: 'We whisper and blaze, and everything in between.'
The Residentie Orkest Den Haag has existed since 1904 and has built an extensive discography with labels such as BIS, Chandos, Philips and Naxos. The orchestra has performed in concert halls worldwide and toured to New York, London, Salzburg, Japan and South America.
