About

Moussa Cissokho (Dakar, 1983) is a Senegalese kora player, singer and griot from the Cissokho family - one of West Africa's most prominent griot lineages. His grandfather Soundioulou Cissokho, known as the 'King of Kora', was a key figure in bringing the instrument to European audiences from 1948 onwards. At thirteen Moussa joined the Ballet National du Sénégal, touring Africa, Asia and Europe; in 2015 he earned a diploma in traditional music from the national art school in Dakar. Since 2011 he has been based in Vorarlberg, Austria, performing across Central Europe both as a solo artist and as part of the trinational trio JMO.
