About

Theo Travis (born Birmingham, 1964) is a British saxophonist, flautist and composer who moves fluidly between jazz, progressive rock and ambient music. He studied classical music at the University of Manchester before settling in London, where he became one of the most sought-after woodwind players on the British jazz scene. Since 2006 he has been a member of Soft Machine - initially under the Legacy suffix - and has collaborated extensively with Robert Fripp, Steven Wilson and David Gilmour, among others. As composer and producer he contributed six of the thirteen tracks on Soft Machine's album 'Thirteen' (2026).
