Paradox Jazz Orchestra ft. James Carter

At these 'Create & Play' evenings, Paradox Jazz Orchestra and American saxophonist James Carter explore the music of John Coltrane. Not a nostalgic tribute, but specially written arrangements for a large jazz orchestra - with room for improvisation, interaction and adventure. The programme moves from hushed ballads to freer, energetic pieces. The concert takes place on both Tuesday and Wednesday; each evening features different compositions.

James Carter is one of the most distinctive saxophonists in jazz. With his range from velvety soft to explosive, he plays tenor, alto, soprano and baritone, moving effortlessly between styles. Since his breakthrough in the nineties, he has performed alongside Wynton Marsalis, Herbie Hancock and Lester Bowie, among others.

The evening follows the 'Create & Play' format: at 19:00 there is a public rehearsal, at 21:00 the concert begins. The audience witnesses the entire process - from the tension of the short preparation time to the release on stage. One ticket gives access to the whole evening.
