WonderYears plays Stevie Wonder

In the 1970s, Stevie Wonder released a series of legendary albums in rapid succession. The compositions from that era became worldwide hits and have remained etched in our collective memory ever since. His blend of grooves, infectious melodies, and jazz influences proved to be a fertile ground for improvisation.

Fifty years later, saxophonist Jasper Blom, bassist Sean Fasciani, and drummer Felix Schlarmann bring this repertoire back to life as WonderYears - in an acoustic jazz setting. They use the melodies and harmonies from Stevie Wonder's work as a starting point for contemporary arrangements: sometimes they let the original song shine through clearly, other times they venture into rhythmically and harmonically more adventurous territory.
