WonderYears plays Stevie Wonder
WonderYears revives Stevie Wonder's legendary 1970s albums in an acoustic jazz setting, featuring saxophonist Jasper Blom, bassist Sean Fasciani, and drummer Felix Schlarmann.
WonderYears is an acoustic jazz trio of saxophonist Jasper Blom, bassist Sean Fasciani and drummer Felix Schlarmann, dedicated entirely to Stevie Wonder's 1970s catalogue as a springboard for contemporary improvisation. The original songs sometimes shine through clearly; at other times the trio pushes into rhythmically and harmonically adventurous territory. Blom, winner of the 2019 Boy Edgar Prize, is one of the leading voices on the Dutch jazz scene, while Fasciani and Schlarmann are also known as members of BRUUT!, a band that blends jazz with techno and afrobeat.
WonderYears performed at Jazz Maastricht - The Pop Up Jazzclub on 30 May 2025.
The trio released the album WONDERYEARS, fifty years after the release of Stevie Wonder's 'Songs in the Key of Life'.
WonderYears performed at the Bimhuis in Amsterdam on the occasion of the album release.
