MixMonk

MixMonk began as a one-time tribute to Thelonious Monk, but the trio of drummer Joey Baron, saxophonist Robin Verheyen and pianist Bram De Looze has been performing together on international stages for 10 years. With John Coltrane's centennial in 2026 as inspiration, the group explores his work in their own distinctive way.

The three musicians come from three different generations. Baron has shared the stage with Stan Getz, John Zorn and Bill Frisell. Verheyen is known for his command of the instrument and the way he alternates powerful playing with subtle tones - he has performed regularly at Paradox, including with TaxiWars. Bram De Looze is a pianist in various groups, including LABtrio.

The trio performs works by Monk and Coltrane alongside their own compositions.
