Robin Verheyen (born 1982 in Turnhout, Belgium) is a saxophonist and composer based in New York since 2007. He trained at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven, the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and the Manhattan School of Music, where he earned a place on the Dean's List. His work spans modern jazz, baroque music and West African rhythms, and he has collaborated with Gary Peacock, Marc Copland, Billy Hart and Toots Thielemans, among others. He is also co-founder of TaxiWars, the band he leads alongside dEUS frontman Tom Barman.
Verheyen premiered his new composition 'Il Quaderno di Nerina' on 26 March 2026 at the Klara Festival in Brussels, performed by B'Rock Orchestra and mezzo-soprano Cristina Zavalloni.
The album 'Liftoff' was released on 7 February 2025 on the InnerVoice Jazz label, recorded with bassist Drew Gress and drummer Billy Hart.
Verheyen toured through Europe in March 2025 in support of 'Liftoff', with performances in Paris and Brussels, among others.
'Liftoff' was named the sixth best European jazz album of 2025 by music website Marlbank.
Verheyen collaborated on the album 'To the Point' by drummer Devin Gray in 2024.
