MixMonk
MixMonk, a trio of drummer Joey Baron, saxophonist Robin Verheyen and pianist Bram De Looze, plays works by Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane alongside their own compositions.
Bram De Looze (born 1991, Knokke-Heist) is a Belgian jazz pianist who studied at the Lemmensinstituut and the New School for Jazz in New York, where his teachers included Uri Caine and Marc Copland. A recipient of Belgium's Rising Star Jazz Award, he works across several projects - most notably the trio MiXMONK with saxophonist Robin Verheyen and drummer Joey Baron, and Vice Versa with drummer Eric McPherson and bassist Felix Henkelhausen. His solo recordings stand out for their use of unconventional instruments, from historical fortepianos to a grand piano designed by architect Rafael Viñoly, placing him at the intersection of jazz, classical music and free improvisation.
De Looze, Morgan, Baron and Roberts released the live album 'Live at Brussels Jazz Festival - Edition X Flagey 2025', recorded during his artist-in-residency at the Brussels Jazz Festival.
Pentadox, the trio of De Looze with Sylvain Debaisieux and Samuel Ber, released the album 'As If It Were Tomorrow' via Challenge Records.
Bram De Looze was artist-in-residence at the Brussels Jazz Festival 2025 in Flagey, where he presented three different projects.
His fourth solo album 'Spotting Gateways' was released on 19 January 2024 via Dox Records and was recorded at De Singel in Antwerp.
De Looze released two new live singles in 2026: 'Popo (Live)' and 'Rebounce (Live)'.
