New Cool Collective - try out — So What!, Gouda

New Cool Collective was founded in 1993 at Amsterdam's Soul Kitchen, where saxophonist Benjamin Herman and DJ Graham B first took the stage together. That collaboration grew into an eight-piece band that has since performed at leading clubs and festivals worldwide - both in its core lineup and as a 19-piece big band. Previous collaborations included Tony Allen, Mapacha Africa, Andrew Roachford, Jules Deelder, Typhoon, Guus Meeuwis, Matt Bianco, Thierno Koité and Georgie Fame.

In 2024, Everything is OK was released, an album that harks back to the anything-goes mentality that has defined the band from the start, featuring innovative horn arrangements and orchestral influences. A year later came On Tour, the live album of the New Cool Collective Big Band, recorded after sold-out concerts at Paradiso, Het Concertgebouw and Ronnie Scott's in London. Meanwhile, the band is working on new material, with their credo unchanged: "Get the people moving."

The current lineup features Benjamin Herman (saxophone), Rory Ronde (guitar), Joost Kroon (drums), Frank van Dok and Jos de Haas (percussion), Willem Friede (keyboards), Leslie Lopez (bass) and David Rockefeller (trumpet).
