Duo Seeberg & De Groot - From Bach to Kodály

Violist Jeroen de Groot and cellist Jonas Seeberg perform a programme spanning three centuries of music history. The focus is on the combination of violin and cello: two instruments that complement and challenge each other.

Johann Sebastian Bach's solo works open the programme: both the Second Cello Suite and the Chaconne are among the most demanding pieces in the string solo repertoire. This is followed by Maurice Ravel's Sonata for Violin and Cello, in which he explores the boundaries of both instruments in a clear, surprisingly modern musical language.

The concert concludes with Zoltán Kodály's Duo for Violin and Cello - a work in which Hungarian folk music influences combine with rhythmic energy and lyrical melodies.
