De Baron
De Baron blends anarchism with raw energy, weaving together eclectic sounds and haunting melodies. Their music ranges from folk ballads about mermaids to fierce critiques of consumerism - the band wrestles with life's big questions.
Over recent years they've played festivals including Zwarte Cross, Oerol, the Bevrijdingsfestivals, Zomerparkfeest and Vierdaagsefeesten. Following albums Benbiri and Bejjebang, with tracks like 'Aap', 'Zee' and 'Cowboy', they're releasing their third album this year: 'BaalBek'. It fuses self-mockery, rage and hope in a blend of Sahara rock, folk ballad and hard-hitting punk.
"We sing about desperate attempts to do good and the hopeless powerlessness that radiates from it. We don't know if the earth is doing well, if we can do anything about it, or what colour the future holds. But we do know that every attempt to make the world a little more beautiful is worth celebrating, before that celebration ends. Let the tap run!" - De Baron
