The Steepwater Band

The Steepwater Band hails from Chicago and plays the heavier side of blues. Built around guitarist and singer Jeff Massey, the band combines raw blues and dirty slide guitar with southern rock and Americana: solid grooves and plenty of room for the guitar. Think of the blues roots of Muddy Waters, the gritty rock of ZZ Top, and the expansive guitar work of The Allman Brothers.

The band has been around for over twenty years and built a loyal following on both sides of the Atlantic through relentless touring. The Steepwater Band has shared the stage with Gov't Mule, Buddy Guy, Joe Bonamassa, Marc Ford, and Blackberry Smoke, and released a substantial string of albums during those years.

Live, the band truly comes into its own. With three musicians, they produce a surprisingly big sound, with songs given all the space to expand into long jams and improvisations. No unnecessary frills: guitar, bass, and drums - three musicians who know each other inside out after all these years, and blues rock that is meant to be played loud.
