De Kift

De Kift calls itself not a band but a music ensemble. For 38 years, these musicians from Zaandam have blended punk, pop, theatre and brass music into something unique - with lyrics drawn equally from world literature and café conversations.

In their new show De eenzame, a wanderer takes centre stage who never quite reaches the sea: "He wanted to leave for the sea, but never made it past the station." Around him, film fragments and drawings, old and new material, familiar faces and new characters. The performance unfolds between two albums: following 2024's Niemandsland and leading up to their fourteenth studio album arriving in 2027. The setlist includes songs De Kift hasn't played in years, alongside tracks not yet released on record.

Since their founding in 1988, they have released thirteen studio albums and collaborated with Rats on Rafts, Calexico, Franz Ferdinand and Sanne den Hartogh. On stage: Ferry, Wim, Mathijs, Pim, Patrick, Roos and Marco, playing instruments ranging from bass tuba and baritone to hurdy-gurdy and ukulele.
