About

De Kift is a Dutch musical ensemble from the Zaandam area, founded in 1988 by Ferry Heijne and Wim ter Weele. The band blends brass-band fanfare, punk, pop and theatre, setting Dutch-language texts drawn from world literature - from Lucebert to Pablo Neruda. Thirteen studio albums, collaborations with Calexico and Franz Ferdinand, and a Zilveren Harp award mark a career that has run stubbornly outside any mainstream genre.
