Loma + Shearwater
Loma, Shearwater and Any Kind seem almost destined to tour together. Loma and Shearwater share songwriter Jonathan Meiburg and engineer/producer Dan Duszynski, both bands are rooted in Austin and both are signed to Sub Pop Records in Seattle. The evening opens with Dan Duszynski's solo project Any Kind.
Loma
The heart of Loma is the quiet, enveloping voice of Emily Cross, flanked by Jonathan Meiburg and Dan Duszynski. The band released their debut album 'Loma' in 2018, followed by 'Don't Shy Away' (2020) and 'How Will I Live Without A Body?' (2023). Meiburg describes the songwriting process as a ouija board: the songs emerge slowly on their own.
Shearwater
Under Jonathan Meiburg's direction, Shearwater's songs move from small, vulnerable melodies to grand, imposing sounds - balancing on the edge of happiness and melancholy, hope and anger. The band previously toured with St. Vincent and Coldplay. Their latest album The New World comes out on 31 July.
Any Kind
Besides his work in Loma and Shearwater, Dan Duszynski also performs solo as Any Kind. He makes danceable indie rock with broad soundscapes and surprising textures - music to dance to and listen to intently.
