Ronker (BE) + CESAR SUN (BE)

On Saturday, 23 January 2027, RONKER and CESAR SUN take the stage together at Poppodium Phoenix in Breda.

RONKER emerged in the middle of the pandemic when four musicians decided to build something new from the Belgian "swamplands". Their sound - dubbed "speed noise" by the band themselves - combines early hardcore-punk with the intensity of 90s grunge and metal. Their debut album "Fear Is A Funny Thing, Now Smile Like A Big Boy" (2024) brought them to Hellfest, 2000Trees and Pukkelpop, and to support shows for Show Me The Body, The Melvins, Sparta and Brutus. On the follow-up "Respect The Hustle, I Won't Be Your Dog Forever", the band hits even harder: Kerrang praised the genre-transcending sound, Metal Hammer UK described the record as pure rage with the early fury of IDLES - but heavier and more aggressive. The release was launched with a sold-out show at the Ancienne Belgique.

CESAR SUN from Belgium takes a different starting point: psychedelic stonerpunk, built on fuzzed-out riffs, distorted melodies and a rhythm section that hits harder than expected. Taron Zohrabyan, Tijl Coorevits and Jannes Degrande founded the band as a tribute to their late friend and guitarist César. After the debut EP "The ASHTRAY Tapes" (2023) came the album "The Palace" - equally biting, but more mature. By now the trio has shaken up every corner of Belgium and played at, among others, the Ghent Festival and Jera on Air.
