BATMOBILE vs. KLINGONZ | Halloween Party

On Saturday, 31 October, Poppodium Phoenix celebrates Halloween with an evening of psychobilly: BATMOBILE takes on KLINGONZ, with MindFucks as support.

BATMOBILE (Breda/Rotterdam, 1983) started as a rockabilly band of two classmates - Johnny Zuidhof and Jeroen Haamers - soon joined by Jeroen's older brother Eric on upright bass. Covers of Elvis and Johnny Burnette, driven by punk energy, evolved into their own sound: short, hard and no-frills. In 1986 they became the first non-British band to play the legendary Klub Foot in London. Tours followed across Europe, Japan, Russia, Brazil and the US. More than forty years later, the original line-up still takes the stage.

KLINGONZ (UK, 1988) built their cult status by cheerfully ignoring the classic psychobilly rulebook: while others drew inspiration from horror films, they chose instead a wild ode to Roald Dahl's Oompa Loompas. Rockabilly roots, punk attitude and lyrics that swing between childishly absurd and completely insane - the band has kept it up for decades.

Support comes from MindFucks (NL, 2019), who describe themselves as 'psychobilly with a raw, murderous edge'. Murder, stalking, voodoo: no subject is too grim for a catchy track. They have previously shared the stage with The Exploited, Cock Sparrer and Discipline.
