The James Brown Experience

The James Brown Experience comes to Poppodium Nieuwe Nor in Heerlen on 23 January. The show marks twenty years since James Brown's death and is presented in collaboration with The James Brown Family Foundation.

The programme is carried by The New Soul Generals, a nine-piece funk orchestra whose musicians have previously toured with Jamiroquai, Mark Ronson, Stevie Wonder, Amy Winehouse, John Legend and Martha Reeves. Classics such as 'I Got You (I Feel Good)', 'Sex Machine', 'Papa's Got a Brand New Bag', 'It's a Man's Man's Man's World' and 'Get Up Offa That Thing' take centre stage. The story of the King of Funk is told in his own words, in what is described as the most authentic James Brown production to date.

Before and after the concert, DJ Alex van Oostrom spins original funk and soul video clips from the 1960s and 1970s.
