Nona

On 24 September, Nona performs at Poppodium Nieuwe Nor in Heerlen with her new album 'Letters To My Habits'. This is a club card show.

The Brabant-born singer grew up in Uden, surrounded by her parents' soul records. After losing her father at a young age, she went through a turbulent period, living in Curaçao among other places, before eventually finding her way to music. She recorded songs in New York with producer duo Likeminds (John Legend, The Roots) and broke through with her debut album Nona (2019), which led to nominations and performances at festivals including Pinkpop, North Sea Jazz, Paaspop and Down The Rabbit Hole.

After a split with her label and management, she moved to Denmark before signing with V2 Records back in the Netherlands. Her new music is rawer and more organic, featuring live instruments and influences from soul, blues, rock and pop - echoing Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin and Adele, but also Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters. The songs are personal in nature and address themes of love, loss and resilience.
