Swell

The original members of Swell reunite to honour the indie-rock music of David Freel, who passed away in 2022. Swell blended post-punk from the 1980s with folk and cinematic sounds into a distinctive, instantly recognizable style - layered songs and vocals that linger for days.

The band was founded in 1989 in San Francisco by David Freel and Sean Kirkpatrick. Their raw 1990 debut album laid the foundation for a series of international successes; albums like '...Well?' and '41' left a lasting mark on indie rock of the 1990s and 2000s. During that period they shared the stage with Mazzy Star, The Flaming Lips and Mercury Rev.

Following Freel's death in 2022, the remaining band members came together again - to honour him and to celebrate their shared musical legacy live.
