The Meltdown — MEZZ, Breda

On 29 October, Australian soul band The Meltdown performs at MEZZ. Their sound combines soul and rhythm & blues with influences from gospel and jazz.

Led by singer and songwriter Simon Burke, the band delivers emotionally charged music. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2017; the second album 'It's A Long Road' (2022) followed. Live performances feature horns, organ sounds and grooves, with references to Stax, Motown and Nashville's songwriting tradition.

Support comes from INNOCNT, the project of Brussels-based singer-songwriter Antoine Innocent. With voice and guitar, he writes songs where country, soul, R&B and rock 'n' roll converge. He toured with his father at a young age, later developing his own sound from a home studio. From age 14 he has been guided by Michel Lambot, co-founder of PIAS, and works with producer Azzedine Djelil of Backdoor Records. His single 'A mama should know' marks a new chapter in his career.
