Wayside are a Melbourne-based alternative rock act - originally a duo, now a trio - formed in 2017 by vocalist Thomas Davenport and guitarist Josh Ehmer. Their sound draws on shoegaze, emo and post-grunge, with touchstones like Title Fight, Deftones and Citizen. Their 2021 debut 'Shine Onto Me' earned 3.5 million Spotify streams and coverage from NPR, NME and Triple J; the 2023 follow-up 'What Does Your Soul Look Like' was recorded with Grammy-nominated producer Will Yip at Studio 4 in Philadelphia. In 2026 they became the first Australian act to sign to Yip's Memory Music label.
Wayside signed as the first Australian act on Memory Music, the label of producer Will Yip, and simultaneously released the new single 'Invisible Strings'.
The band made their debut at Download Festival in England and announced headline shows in Brighton, Huddersfield and London.
In October 2026 they return to the UK and Europe for a tour supporting Acres.
'Invisible Strings' is the first song the trio wrote with new bassist Izzy De Leon (known from WAAX and Thelma Plum).
The second album 'What Does Your Soul Look Like', produced by Will Yip in Studio 4 in Philadelphia, was released on 10 November 2023 via Nature Girl Records.
