Breakdown of Sanity — De Helling, Utrecht

Breakdown of Sanity, the DIY modern metal band from Bern, is active again in 2025. The band was founded in 2007 by guitarist and songwriter Oly Stingel and has built a sound that combines metalcore with influences from deathcore, hardcore, and progressive metal.

Their albums The Last Sunset (2009), MIRRORS, Perception (2013), and Coexistence (2016) gained cult status within the scene. After a creative break, the band returned in 2020 with a series of singles: "Traces" (2020), "Black Smoke" (2021), "Collapse" (2023), "Echoes of the Void" (2024), and "Perfect Enemy" (2024).

Their live comeback came in spring 2024 at the Impericon Festivals in Germany, but that year also brought lineup changes. Drummer Thomas Rindlisbacher stepped back for health reasons and was replaced by David Stutzer. Vocalist Carlo Knöpfel left the band to pursue a different musical direction, after which the group publicly searched for a new frontman.

In spring 2025, Kivi Brändle was introduced as his successor. The first single with the new lineup, "The Hunt", appeared in May 2025, followed by "Torn Pages" in February 2026 - alongside the announcement of a new album coming later in 2026.
