Breakdown of Sanity
Swiss metalcore band Breakdown of Sanity returns with new vocalist Kivi Brändle and a new album in 2026. The band plays on 2 May at De Helling Utrecht.
Breakdown of Sanity are a metalcore/deathcore band from Bern, Switzerland, founded in 2007 by guitarist and songwriter Oliver Stingel. Their sound pairs crushing breakdowns with melodic riffs, a formula that earned albums like Perception (2013) and Coexistence (2016) cult status across Europe. After a hiatus, the band returned to the stage in 2024 with a refreshed lineup - new drummer David Stutzer and vocalist Kivi Brändle joining the founding core - and are currently recording their first full-length album in a decade.
On 20 February 2026, the band released the new single 'Torn Pages', including an official live video, and confirmed that this song together with 'The Hunt' is part of their first full studio album in ten years, planned for later in 2026.
On 2 May 2025, the single 'The Hunt' was released, accompanied by a music video, and at the same time the band officially announced the arrival of new singer Kivi Brändle.
Singer Carlo Knöpfel left the band at the end of 2024; his last performance took place on 27 December 2024 at the Bierhübeli in Bern.
In October 2024, the band started a public audition for a new singer, after drummer Thomas Rindlisbacher also could no longer perform for health reasons and was replaced by David Stutzer.
In spring 2024, Breakdown of Sanity made their live comeback after seven years of absence, with performances at the Impericon Festivals in Germany.
