Mahsa Vahdat (Tehran, 1973) is an Iranian singer and composer who sets classical Persian poetry - from Hafez and Rumi to contemporary writers - to her own contemporary musical language. Because Iranian law has banned women from solo public singing since the 1979 revolution, she has recorded her albums largely outside Iran and built an international career as an advocate for freedom of expression. She collaborates regularly with her sister Marjan Vahdat and has performed with ensembles including the Kronos Quartet and Norwegian jazz pianist Tord Gustavsen. She received the Freemuse Award in 2010 and served as Composer-in-Residence at Spoleto Festival USA in 2025.
