J. Bernardt

J. Bernardt is the solo project of Jinte Deprez, known as a member of Belgian indie rock band Balthazar. He combines contemporary R&B, electronics and soul, performing alongside Adriaan Van de Velde (Pomrad) and Klaas De Somer (Tourist Le Mc, Pomrad).

Where Balthazar centres on guitars, J. Bernardt shifts focus to vocals and strings. His music carries the tone of a nightclub after closing time. This comes through in his recent single 'Four In The Morning', where Jinte sings about someone reaching a moment of clarity in a slightly numbed state - at four in the morning, or perhaps a rare sober moment. He deliberately leaves this interpretation open.

The song is driven by pulsing drums, extended synths and sultry vocals, and is his first new release since 2024. With 'Four In The Morning', J. Bernardt takes a step towards a fully distinctive sound and direction.
