Punkrock Riot #24: Satanic Surfers + For I Am + Wet Sox

Punkrock Riot celebrates its 10th anniversary on 16 October with an XL edition in MEZZ's main hall. Swedish headliners Satanic Surfers bring technical skatepunk and memorable melodies, with support from Belgian punk outfit For I Am and Wet Sox.

Satanic Surfers have been active since 1989, building a cult following around their 1995 album 'Hero of our Time'. Frontman Rodrigo Alfaro sings and drums simultaneously, and the band has toured globally with acts like Lagwagon and Millencolin. After a hiatus, they returned to major festivals in 2014 with politically charged, uncompromising punk.

For I Am emerged from the Belgian punk scene in 2014, delivering fast, hard-hitting songs with memorable hooks. From their debut 'All About Perspectives' to their 2024 third album, they've grown steadily: touring Japan and the UK, sharing stages with Propagandhi and Lagwagon, and playing Groezrock and Punk Rock Holiday. Singer Hanne collaborated on international projects during the pandemic while the band's records kept selling.

Wet Sox describe themselves as singalong punk rock with a hardcore attitude - complete with a clothesline of socks as backdrop, crowd participation, crowdsurfing, and a frontman who spends more time in the pit than on stage.
