Nona

Nona van der Wansem is a Dutch singer who blends soul, blues, rock and pop into a raw and powerful sound. Her music is deeply personal, exploring themes of loss, love, self-acceptance and resilience. Growing up with soul legends like Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin and Muddy Waters, as well as Adele, Destiny's Child and Christina Aguilera, these influences shine through in her warm, soulful voice.

When Nona was 14, her father passed away - an event that profoundly shaped her search for identity, while music remained her anchor. Working with guitarist Steve Bradley, she developed a soulful, groovy sound. In 2018 she broke through with 'It's Alright', followed by her debut album 'Nona' and performances at Pinkpop and North Sea Jazz.

After a period of stillness and self-reflection in Denmark, she returned to the Netherlands, signed with V2 Records and created new work that is rawer, more honest and more organic than her previous releases. With new music on the horizon, she now performs at MEZZ in Breda.
