Swiss extreme metal band Samael performs at Cultuurfabriek Hall of Fame in Tilburg.
Samael is a Swiss metal band from Sion, founded in 1987 by brothers Vorph (vocals, guitar) and Xy (drums, keyboards). Starting out in black metal, they gradually shifted toward industrial and symphonic metal, with synthesizers and electronic textures becoming their signature. Albums such as Passage (1996) and Eternal (1999) are considered landmarks of the genre, and Hegemony (2017) reaffirmed their standing as one of Europe's most distinctive extreme metal acts.
Samael released on April 24, 2026 the limited 12-inch maxi-single with 'Hidden Empire' via Napalm Records.
The single 'Hidden Empire' reached position 82 in the Dutch music charts.
Samael released 'Black Matter Manifesto', their first new song in years, via Napalm Records.
Frontman Vorph confirmed in an interview with Chaoszine that the new album has been largely recorded and is expected to come out in 2026.
