Dimmu Borgir are a Norwegian symphonic black metal band formed in Oslo in 1993, known for fusing heavy guitars with orchestral arrangements and choral parts to create a distinctly epic sound. Albums such as Enthrone Darkness Triumphant (1997) and Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia (2001) established them as one of the genre's most recognisable acts.
