Obscura are a German technical death metal band from Landshut, founded in 2002 by guitarist and vocalist Steffen Kummerer, the group's sole constant member across seven studio albums. Their 2009 breakthrough Cosmogenesis is widely regarded as a landmark in the genre, and the band has since built a reputation for combining ferocious technical precision with melodic depth. Their seventh album, A Sonication (2025), is the second chapter of an ongoing conceptual trilogy released via Nuclear Blast.
