Changeling is the progressive death metal project of Berlin guitarist and producer Tom "Fountainhead" Geldschläger, previously known as lead guitarist on Obscura's album Akroasis and as a session contributor to over a hundred releases. The project signed to Season of Mist in early 2024 and released its self-titled debut album in April 2025 - a sixty-minute concept record featuring a fifty-piece ensemble of guest musicians drawn from bands including Alkaloid, Fear Factory and Virvum. The album stands out for its fusion of technical death metal with jazz, world music and orchestral writing, and is the first extreme metal release to be mixed fully in Dolby Atmos.
