Annet Schaap (Echteld, 1965) is a Dutch illustrator and author who illustrated more than 200 children's books before making her writing debut in 2017 with Lampje. The novel swept the major Dutch children's book prizes - including the Gouden Griffel, Woutertje Pieterse Prijs and the Flemish Boekenleeuw - and has been translated into 28 languages. Her second novel Krekel, set in the same world as Lampje, appeared in 2025 and received a Zilveren Griffel in 2026.
Krekel by Annet Schaap received a Silver Griffel in June 2026 in the category nine to twelve years.
Krekel also won the public prize of De Boon for children's and youth literature 2026.
Krekel, Schaap's second novel in the world of Lampje, appeared on 6 March 2025 at publisher Querido.
The English translation of Lampje (Lampie and the Children of the Sea) made the shortlist of the Carnegie Medal.
