About

Anciients are a Canadian progressive sludge metal band from Vancouver, founded in 2009. Their sound blends sludge and progressive metal with post-metal influences, resulting in long, atmospheric compositions. Albums like Heart of Oak (2013) and Voice of the Void (2016) earned them a devoted following in the underground metal scene. After an eight-year gap, they returned with Beyond the Reach of the Sun (2024), which won them their second JUNO Award for Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year in 2025.
