About

High On Fire is an American heavy metal band from Oakland, California, founded in 1998 by guitarist and vocalist Matt Pike, who also plays in the influential stoner-doom band Sleep. The trio built their name as one of the most uncompromising live acts in heavy music, forging a sound that fuses doom, sludge and thrash. They won the Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance in 2019 for 'Electric Messiah', and returned in 2024 with their ninth studio album Cometh the Storm - their first new material in six years, and the first to feature drummer Coady Willis of the Melvins and Big Business.
