Marcel Hensema - Eldorado — Kantine Walhalla, Rotterdam
Description was written before the event

Eldorado is a solo performance by Marcel Hensema (known from Hollands Hoop and iHostage) about people trying to defend their piece of paradise in an uncertain world. When a recreation giant wants to buy out the small rural caravan park Eldorado, the residents fight back. Hensema plays ten different characters, touching on questions more urgent than ever: who decides what happens to our land, our space and our silence, and who has the right to determine the future of our children?

The press was enthusiastic:
"Eldorado is not only current and local, but also universal and timeless." - Theaterkrant ★★★★
"Visitors come to Hensema like football fans to their club: not whether it will be good, but how good. Eldorado is a compelling story, right on target. And pirate radio operator Roelof is downright brilliant." - Dagblad van het Noorden ★★★★
"A beautiful argument about how to treat each other, nature, the earth, the air and the water - a profound response to fear of the foreign." - de Volkskrant ★★★

In his performances, Hensema combines theatre, stand-up, singing, film and audience conversations. He previously performed 'Mijn Ede' on stages from small cafés to Carré. Besides his theatre work, he is known from television series such as Hollands Hoop, Penoza and De Stamhouder, won multiple Golden Calves and played the lead role in the Netflix series Tokyo Trial.
