Silver Sillon — WORM, Rotterdam

Silver Sillon is an improvised piece for four hands, performed by Gaëlle Rouard and Lê Quan Ninh. The performance lasts 45 minutes. Rouard works with 16mm projectors, films and objects; Lê Quan Ninh with turntables and records.

The duo performs together from a shared fascination with rotating objects - records, film reels, disco balls - and the correspondences that emerge in what their movement produces. Light, shadow, sound and silence exist alongside each other; photons collide with sound particles; evocation, contrast and counterpoint alternate.

Gaëlle Rouard has worked manually as a filmmaker since 1992, exploring photochemical film processing alongside an instrumental approach to the 16mm projector. She was a member of 102 Rue d'Alembert and Atelier MTK in Grenoble. Percussionist and improviser Lê Quan Ninh (born 1961) has combined contemporary music with free improvisation since the early 1980s. He was involved with ensembles such as La Flibuste, the Hélios Quartet and the ]h[iatus ensemble, and is artistic advisor of Epicentre, Territoire de l'Écoute in Jarnages.

Cineville is valid at the door and online on the day of the performance.
