Louis Windzak
Louis Windzak - the Surinamese Otis Redding and winner of the very first KRO Soundmixshow hosted by Henny Huisman in 1984 - celebrates 45 years of musical career with a major soul show at CAPSLOC.
Together with a lineup of friends and guest artists, he presents an evening of soul classics: Erwin Bouterse, Alfons Wielingen, Eddy Assan, Etto Sedney, Maureen Fernandes, Renate Kingflower, Rita Sabajo, Lucille, Tropical Jimm, Ed Rust, MC Paul Redout and the Glenn Weisz Band.
Louis Windzak was born on 26 September 1947 in Suriname. His career began with the gospel group The Gayones, after which he won the Soul Genius Contest in 1969. With the Surinamese group The Falling Stones, he made his first professional recordings - around a dozen songs in total. On 10 March 1972 he moved to the Netherlands, where he performed in venues such as De Doelen in Rotterdam, Trefcentrum and Ahoy, as well as in Belgium, Germany and Paris.
Throughout his career, he shared the stage with Percy Sledge, Eddie Floyd and Barbara Lynn, and was involved in the Tropicana Theater tour that ran through the Netherlands from September 2007 to February 2008.
