What's Cooking? is the stage for new music and regional talent. In this edition, Babette Zwinkels and Thomas Heikoop perform at CAPSLOC.
Babette Zwinkels
Babette Zwinkels is a 23-year-old singer-songwriter from Rotterdam with a crystal-clear voice. Her dreamy pop songs with a touch of cabaret explore love, the desire to be seen, and embracing discomfort - with a honesty that lingers. On stage, she performs alongside violinist Yolanda Kuijper and pianist Esther Jacobs.
Thomas Heikoop
Thomas Heikoop is a singer, trumpeter, and sought-after session musician. He has previously worked with artists including Douwe Bob, Do, Joke Buis, Michelle David and Willie Wartaal, performed regularly in the house band of Gijs Groenteman on NPO2, and is a familiar face at Club Dauphine in Amsterdam. As a solo artist, he performs on cruises around the world.
In 2020, he graduated Cum Laude from the Conservatory of The Hague with his performance 'In Vol Ornaat'; in 2024, he completed his Bachelor Jazz Trumpet at the Conservatory of Rotterdam with the music theatre work 'Duivels Dilemma'. This autumn and coming spring, he tours Dutch theatres with the programme "Having a Chet With Baker", a tribute to American jazz trumpeter and singer Chet Baker, supplemented with his own (pop) songs and arrangements of English standards. His debut album of the same name is released this autumn.
Previous editions of What's Cooking? have featured artists including Min Taka, Nest, Energy Cruijff, Rosie Meyer, Leph, Two Seconds Before, Kind Human, Driewieler, Elaine, Loeki, Noa and a band Called S.A.M., Daniel Nolet, Jaco Falcon, Vermin and Baardvader.
