Theater Na De Dam

It is 1939: artists in theaters and clubs light up the night with love songs, silly sketches and theatrical monologues. Then comes the occupier - and with it a dilemma. Do you keep performing in wartime? Are you still allowed to? And will I even be allowed to exist afterwards, as a gay actor, Jewish singer or rebellious jazz musician?

Club Kristall is a musical performance based on true stories of artists in the Netherlands during the war. Many continued to perform, even after warnings and even after deportation - because it kept them going.

Theater maker and singer Quirine Smit and cabaret performer Robbert Jan Proos rediscover forgotten works, partly thanks to the research of cabaret archivist Richard van Bilsen (zwartekat.nl).
