Doris Hochscheid & Frans van Ruth
What do we do when life hurts? In this musical performance, theatre maker and cellist Doris Hochscheid presents a series of characters, each dealing with loss, fear and longing in their own way.
Sometimes they seek comfort, sometimes they stubbornly refuse it - even comically - and wrap themselves in silence. With her cello as a guiding thread, Doris moves between music, text and performance, shifting between intimate and grand, between light and heavy. Where words fall short, music takes over.
Music by Chopin, Liszt, Wiegerink and Van Goens resonates through a performance that navigates between recognition and estrangement. Comfort cannot be forced, but it can be found - where you least expect it. It is a personal and musical search for what keeps us standing.
