Leo & Marius Blokhuis — Theater De Liefde, Haarlem

When Leo was 13, he received an old tube radio. Marius got his first electric guitar at the same age. Father and son, both passionate about music.

In this performance, Leo Blokhuis explores the phenomenon of 'father and son in pop music'. Cat Stevens wrote the famous song about the generation gap between father and son, while Peter Gabriel created a moving piece about mutual support. Along the way, well-known and lesser-known musical duos pass by: Tim and Jeff Buckley, Jim and AJ Croce, Johnny and Shuggie Otis, and the Lennon family with Alfred, John, Julian and Sean. George (Tornados) and Matt (Muse) Bellamy also feature. Do they resemble each other? Is the relationship a blessing or a curse? Does the son live in the shadow of the famous father, or does he actually surpass him?

Who better to illustrate this subject than Leo's own son Marius, who completed his studies at the conservatory in 2025? Leo's stories are interspersed with live guitar playing by Marius and music clips from Leo's laptop.
