Crown Concert: "Old Sea, New Land"

On the bed of the former Zuiderzee, the world's largest polder emerged in the twentieth century: Flevoland. The concert lecture "Old Sea, New Land" tells that story through the engineers who designed the polder with ruler and compass, the pioneers who braved the barren plain, and the fishermen who had to leave.

The production is by writer and historian Eva Vriend, known for her television series with Huub Stapel about the closure of the Zuiderzee and about Schokland. Soprano Klaartje van Veldhoven and accordionist Renée Bekkers (known from Toeac) weave classical songs and accordion sounds through the narrative - singing and text reinforce each other.
