Crown Concert: Ensemble La Primavera

Ensemble La Primavera presents the programme "a laugh and a tear", where text and emotion take centre stage. The three musicians - Gaia Szames (soprano), Regina Albanez (theorbo and baroque guitar) and Maaike Boekholt (viola da gamba) - move between playful irony and deep melancholy, in Italian and Spanish style.

The programme has two sides. The laugh: humour and lightness, lively rhythms, unexpected turns and folk influences. The tear: long sustained lines, expressive ornaments and a wistful feeling. But also a tear of joy - exuberant zest for life and danceable energy.
