Meneer Zee tells stories by stacking places, characters and experiences on top of each other - with lots of repetition and music so they stick in children's heads.

"The mouse saw that the cat saw the mouse and it immediately started gnawing at the rope that tied the cow that drank the stream that put out the fire that the stick set alight that tapped against the puppy's bottom that bit at Anneke's bottom... But Anneke had long since disappeared."
