Christmas Concert: A Christmas Song Recital

Latvian soprano Ieva Gorda and Dutch pianist Maurice Lammerts van Bueren present a Christmas programme featuring classical songs, traditional Christmas carols, and lesser-known Latvian pieces.

The programme includes works by Samuel Barber (St. Ita's Vision, A Slumber Song of the Madonna, Sleep Now), Charles Ives (A Christmas Carol), Leonard Bernstein (A Simple Song), and Lee Hoiby (Winter Song). Also featured are Latvian songs, including works by Jānis Mediņš, alongside Christmas classics such as Winter Wonderland, The Christmas Song, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, and Let it Snow!

The English-language repertoire is deliberately interspersed with Latvian songs - a repertoire that is rarely known in the Netherlands.
